Dear Washington A-Team,

We lost today in Washington state - 66 to 29. It is now the law in that state that every year every parent, who wants to file and receive a religious or philosophical exemption for a child must consult a medical pract...itioner and get a signed statement that he or she has been educated. Religious exemption is defined very narrowly. Proponents have said behind the scenes that they want to eliminate the philosophical exemption altogether and that will probably be the next step legislatively for them, but we will be ready.

NVIC will regroup and continue fighting in WA and in other states. It has to end here and be reversed in Washington. I’ll send a note out to everyone on the Portal tonight.

I have some ideas how we may be able to use the Greater Good DVD for “education on benefits and risks” that will drive the pediatricians into a frenzy. I will be with the directors next weekend. Everyone needs to take a breather and be with your families, hug your spouses and kids thanking them for their support while you fought, and let’s touch base next week on where you all would like to take the huge group that was created in Washington to protect and expand your rights in the future.

Thank you everybody. I’ll send a note out next week to this group for a debriefing phone call so we can talk about what went right and lessons learned for the future. You all are fantastic and I’ve so much enjoyed meeting you and working with you and I’m so glad that we will get to continue to work together as we take this to the next level. God Bless!
