A MESSAGE TO PARENTS
The practice
of medicine is changing and so is the relationship between parents and their
children?s medical health care practitioners. I want to acknowledge children
have greatly benefited from the advancements of western medicine through
improvements in:
-
The care of premature infants,
sick newborns & intensely ill children & teens
-
The technology for better
diagnostic procedures and cutting-edge treatments
-
The development of life saving
surgical procedures
-
The treatment and understanding
of genetic conditions
-
The advancement of
pharmaceuticals to treat children?s complex conditions
Increasing
numbers of parents, caregivers and practitioners, however, are seeking answers
to many child health care issues that go beyond the scope of western medical
practice. People want to be better informed about:
-
The choices you can make about
children?s health care
-
What you can do to help prevent
and safely treat common childhood illnesses
-
How you can help strengthen
children?s immune systems
-
How your children get sick, get
well and stay well
-
How you can learn to safely
address common & complex childhood illnesses
-
What treatments are available
for children in addition to western medicine
-
Why there is such an increase
in chronic childhood illnesses
-
What role nutrition plays in
maintaining family health & treating illness
-
How environmental factors
affect children?s health
-
How the body-mind-spirit
connection impacts family health
-
How to get the doctor to
listen, spend more time and respect differing opinions
-
How to raise healthy children
without the threat of debilitating conditions and the need for constant
medications and therapies
Parents,
scientists and practitioners are concerned the information gained through the
process of scientific inquiry, i.e. asking questions, testing hypotheses and
discovering new answers, has been influenced by dogma and the protection of
special interests, especially in regards to vaccinations and the benefits of
alternative medicine. Through inquiry, it is possible to discover truths that
contradict the prevailing beliefs of my training and the current medical
system.
As
a holistic practitioner it is my responsibility to explore these challenging
issues, understanding that sometimes the answers are not easily found, if at
all.
I
want to be better informed about these issues and empower you with the
information I discover to provide you with options to make more informed
decisions for your family.
I
invite you to take this journey of exploration and continued discovery!

WHAT IS HOLISTIC CHILD HEALTH
CARE?
I use a
holistic approach in my practice to better understand the impact physical,
emotional and spiritual environments have on overall health and the health of
our children. Holistic medicine provides me with a new framework in which I can
expand our current definition of health, beyond the limitations of western
medical practice and conventional thinking. It offers me a way to organize,
explore and challenge specific beliefs we have about health, wellness and
illness.
In
the practice of holistic child health care the goal is for practitioner and
family to be in a learning partnership. Information is shared to educate and
empower parents and to offer you different options when making health decisions
for your family. After all, you as the parent,
are the primary care providers for your children.
Holistic
medicine calls for a time commitment on the part of the family, with dedication
and a willingness to grow and learn. There are few, if any, quick fixes or
magic bullets. Families are asked to be open and flexible to challenge and
explore conventional thoughts and beliefs, with achieving a state of greater
health for the whole family as the ultimate goal. It is also essential to take
the time to build relationships within the family, within communities and with
the practitioner(s) to nurture your children to better health.
Illness can
have a significant impact on a child?s development and often alerts us to what
they need. The preference in holistic child health care is to introduce
treatment programs that safely nourish the healing of a child?s illness, while
also recognizing each child?s inherent healing ability. Another benefit to
holistic child health care is that it focuses on understanding the uniqueness
of each child, what teachings children have to offer and what contributes to
how children stay well and get sick.
Some
of the treatments used to help prevent and treat illness in children are:
|
?
Body work
|
?
Functional
medicine
|
|
?
Chiropractic

?
Herbology-western

(The above
treatments merely provide us with the tools to help nourish children towards
greater health. They may not always be the driving force for what keeps
children healthy or what assists them in their recovery from illness).

PRACTICE PRINCIPLES
What are the Principles of HOLISTIC CHILD HEALTH CARE?
HOLISTIC CHILD HEALTH joins
you and Dr. Palevsky in a learning partnership, where maintaining wellness and
safely treating illness involves the whole family. Suggestions for prevention
and treatment are designed to help you 1) recognize and reduce/eliminate/modify
specific factors that overwhelm your children and contribute to their symptoms
and illnesses, and 2) incorporate safe remedies that restore well-being and
ease your children?s symptoms without suppressing the important body functions
necessary to re-establish balance.
The ultimate
goal of HOLISTIC CHILD HEALTH CARE is to respect how infants and children
evolve and mature, doing no harm to the health and stability of their maturing
immune, nervous and digestive systems, thereby nourishing them to reach their
maximum potential as human beings, in body, mind and spirit.
HOLISTIC
CHILD HEALTH is based on the idea that infants and children have a natural
biological capacity to heal themselves. This is especially true when they are
in a nourishing environment. Infants and children show some degree of wellness,
even when they?re acutely or chronically ill, and have the potential for
illness, even when they appear to be well. Strategies are created to maintain
wellness and heal children with acute & chronic illnesses by exploring the
physical, emotional and spiritual factors that impact wellness and illness in
each unique child.

PRACTICE DESCRIPTION
What will Acute Illness Care be like?
Dr.
Palevsky is available to care for your children?s acute illnesses during his
scheduled office hours. Your children will be examined and treatment
recommendations will be made to improve their conditions. Initial treatments
may include the use of nutrition, supplements, essential oils/aromatherapy,
herbs, baths, homeopathy, western medicine, referral to other practitioners or
simply close observation and follow up. Dr. Palevsky seeks to use remedies that
ease your children?s symptoms, making them and you more comfortable without
suppressing the mechanisms in their bodies helping them to heal. Clinical
follow-up will also be provided.
What will Chronic Illness Care be like?
HOLISTIC CHILD HEALTH will
help empower you to raise healthy children and safely treat your children?s
chronic conditions. You will learn about the options you have for healing your
children and keeping them healthy. Dr. Palevsky will review your concerns,
along with your children?s birth, nutrition and medical histories, and
important physical findings. A holistic assessment and overview of family and
child health will be made. You will hear about conventional and holistic
approaches to your children?s conditions and receive western and alternative
treatment recommendations. Dietary and lifestyle modifications will also be a
focus to help you re-establish a healing environment and better nourish your
children. Dr. Palevsky may suggest important supplements, tests, and possible
referrals to other practitioners for further treatment. Plans for follow-up
will round out your consultation. Ultimately, you will learn your children have
the power to be well and stay well, and are not destined for a life of
debilitating conditions, constant medications and multiple therapies.

APPEARANCES/SEMINARS
The public has many questions about the safety and efficacy of vaccines. While more parents are showing increased concern about these issues, and the growing number of vaccines to be administered to infants and children from day one of life, there is a growing interest on the part of vaccine manufacturers, state legislatures and medical societies to enforce vaccination on all children, through the passing of more and more state vaccine mandates, without first having a dialogue with the public, or the medical community.
What is current vaccine science and who is funding it and doing it? How does our current knowledge of vaccines support and/or contradict the natural development of the immune systems of infants and children? How do vaccines work, and have they done, and do they do what we're told they do? What role do vaccine ingredients play when injected into infants and children, and what do they do to our children once they're injected? Do vaccines contribute to the development of chronic illnesses in children? And how do our children get into school if they're not vaccinated?
Attendees will hear some of the answers to these questions, along with the research that questions whether vaccines are safe and effective, and whether the scientific process is even at work to prove the answers to these questions. Attendees will also be asked to look at the issues that drive us to make the decisions we make, many of which come to us through fear, bullying, uncertainty, and lack of knowledge. By the end of the workshop, attendees will be empowered to look at the subject of vaccines in a different way, perhaps thinking alternatively about how illnesses occur and disappear. Most importantly, this workshop will present attendees with an opportunity to see the possibility of understanding a new paradigm that returns us to living more vibrant, and healthier lives.
